Shruthi Sethuraman, GIIS Singapore
IGCSE , May -June 2020.

“With extreme ecstasy, I would like to announce that I, (Shruthi Sethuraman) have scored A*s in all the subjects I had gone for tuition in Scimath. The subjects are Maths and Physics. I would like to thank my Physics tutor and Maths tutor for their faultless tutoring and their excellent guidance and support being the backbone of my excellent grades. My tutor’s kind and selfless nature has always lifted me up during the times of stress and difficulty, thus being a source of moral support for me. They are very prompt and are available to reach out to me and clear my doubts anytime. Maths tutor’s fun and innovative way of teaching maths, has definitely been a stress reliever for me and has also been a reason for my increasing interest in the subject of Mathematics. Their years of experience in this field has truly facilitated my academic excellence, thus I end by saying that I credit a great part of my success to them!”

I truly enjoyed learning the sciences (Physics, chemistry and Biology) from Scimath Academy. I joined with them only a few months before my pre boards, but they helped me in developing my conceptual understanding in the sciences. I truly developed my passion for Physics in particular here. I would be able to ask the most absurd of questions about Physics, and the tutor would explain it so well. Hence I’m even taking HL Physics in IB. I was a bit lost in Chemistry when I joined Scimath but my chemistry tutor and Biology tutors truly helped me in building confidence

I would highly recommend the centre to others. My daughter’s interest for subjects was revived and could see her putting more effects during the exams.

Esha, DPS School, Singapore
AS/A level 2019 – 2020

I never liked biology before but after joining this centre, my interest towards the subject increased. My teacher, Arzeen ma’am was always willing to help us and provide us with the best notes and materials. She was also very patient in helping me clear all my doubts and always motivated me. Thank you for the pleasant experience, definitely recommend 🙂

Scimath has truly provided such a joyful learning experience. Both our teachers-Sareena ma’am and Arzeen Maam have helped foster a deeper understanding and love towards the subject by notes or simply last minute revisions. My love for each subject- Physics and biology has definitely increased ten folds and mere words can’t describe how grateful we are for them 🙂

I really enjoyed my lessons at scimath. I’ve been learning physics from Ms Sareena for more than 2 years and despite the many failures and hurdles we faced, she never gave up on me and always reminded me to have confidence in myself and my abilities. Ms Sareena understood my weaknesses and strengths
academically and used them to teach me in a way that I would benefit the most. This resilient and determined attitude of the teachers at Scimath and the multiple resources that they provide students with for revision, has played a major role in boosting my confidence academically for which I’m very grateful.

Ms.Arzeen was my tutor for biology for 1 year. I had a very weak foundation in the subject initially and I appreciated her flexible teaching style, where her explanation of concepts in layman terms helped me develop and refine my understanding of the syllabus. She is a very helpful tutor who also provides a variety of resources (study guides, question booklets and past examination papers etc.). I improved from a grade 2 to a final grade of 7 in my IBDP examinations.

The classes that I have with Mrs Arzeen provide me a safe and friendly space to clear my doubts and gain a thorough understanding of the subject. I highly reccomend it!

Ms Sareena is a very passionate and caring teacher capable of bringing out the best in any student. When I first came to her, I was hopeless in Physics. I had just gotten a U grade for my J2 Mid-year examinations and was terribly lost in that subject. My foundation was weak and I only had a couple of months before my A level examinations. Determined to help me succeed, she taught me from scratch, topic by topic, carefully explaining key concepts and simplifying complicated ideas. She went the extra mile to clarify any doubts I had and corrected all of my misconceptions, ensuring that I never left her lesson with any questions unanswered. After helping me build a solid foundation in the topics, she drilled me with worksheets after worksheets, exposing me to all sorts of questions. She also taught me how to be exam- smart and work well under time constraint. Under her guidance, Physics soon became my strongest subject. I could not have achieved an A grade for my H2 Physics without her. I am truly thankful and blessed to have Ms Sareena as my Physics tutor.

Mathematics, is the subject which develops transferable skills such as the skill of working with mathematical information, as well as the ability to

think logically and independently, consider accuracy, model situations mathematically, analyse results and reflect on findings. The key secret to score in maths is “practice and Practice’’. Inorder to score productively in maths understanding key concepts is a must also review the concepts frequently and practice the related applications.

From Secondary to higher secondary mathematics , we cover the following areas: Pure mathematics,Sequences and series,Vectors,Introduction to Complex numbers,Calculus, Probability and Statistics.

Biology, is the natural science that studies life and living organisms, including their physical structure, chemical processes, molecular interactions, physiological mechanisms, development and evolution. It takes us into the  fascinating world of living things and their processes.

It’s a subject that students sometimes find hard to grasp, often due to the sheer volume of information rather than difficulty of concepts. Most syllabuses these days emphasise on application rather than just theory. Thus the challenge is often double fold : to remember facts and to understand concepts well enough to apply it.

From Secondary to higher secondary biology , we cover the following areas: The cell and biomolecules of life, Genetics and Inheritance, energy and Equilibrium,Biological evolution,Infectious diseases, Impact of climate change on animals and plants

Physics, branch of science, deals with the structure of matter and the interactions between the fundamental constituents of the observable universe. Understanding in physics goes beyond the simple memorization and study ,not only it requires conceptual thinking but a good skill in maths is a prerequisite in order to score well for physics.

From Secondary to higher secondary physics, we will cover the following areas: Mechanics, Thermal Physics, Waves, light and sound, Electricity and Magnetism, Quantum Physics and Nuclear Physics

Chemistry, is the science that deals with the properties, composition, and structure of substances (defined as elements and compounds), the transformations they undergo, and the energy that is released or absorbed during these processes. It’s the science that often forms a bridge between physics and biology. It helps us to understand how things function at a molecular level. Fascinating phenomena such as how does a ship float on water or why do some gases glow, can all be explained using the principles of chemistry.

To master chemistry, one needs to first grasp the basic theory extremely well. This is only possible if explained using valid examples and related to application in everyday life. For example , insects can often walk on water. This is because of the surface tension of water. Due to attraction between the water molecules on the surface of water, the water molecules move closer to each other and a delicate membrane is formed on the surface. This helps insects walk on water.

From Secondary to higher secondary chemistry, we cover the following areas in our lessons: Physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and analysis.
